If you are looking to change jobs or make a transition in your career, even if you lost your job, now is a great time to start thinking of the kind of person and leader you want to be.

Now is a great opportunity to take some time to sit and reflect. Consider asking yourself these questions.

  • What works for you?
  • What does not work for you?
  • What is important to you in your leadership style?
  • Even if you lost your job, look at the reasons why.
  • Often, with a closer look, you will discover the source of misalignment.
  • What values are non-negotiable to you?
  • What type of leadership style and environment fits your personality?
  • Check out the latest management and leadership books.
  • Remind yourself of who you are.
  • Look to see if there are new characteristics, you want to develop in yourself.

There has never been a better time than now, to rethink and ask yourself if you want to make some changes, changes that will serve you and your potential new employer better and more effectively.

Write your new mission statement. Include anything new that you discovered. What is best for you? Then go out and find a new and more compatible environment that will nourish you. Utilize your leadership style. Create a win/win for everyone concerned.

Your environment participates in shaping the results in your life, positive or negative. Find the environment that is best for you.

Look at your job loss or transition as an opportunity to re-evaluate. We wish you the best in your executive and managerial career transition.
