Are You Connected – Can Potential Employers Find You?

Are you maximizing and making the best of your Internet presence? Are you LinkedIn? Are you using Monster.com? Do you have a clear, concise and well written LinkedIn or Monster profile? Have you worked your LinkedIn networking possibilities? Are you actively seeking recommendations and making connections? If a company was searching for an executive or manager, could they find you? Do you have a well-written profile on LinkedIn or Monster.com? Are you selling your talents, skills and abilities?
If you are an executive or manager looking for a new position, are you maximizing your Internet opportunities? The Internet is a wave of current and future networking opportunities. This includes Monster.com and LinkedIn.com. With an Internet presence, you can connect with potential employers in your sleep - literally. Companies can access your Internet information 24 hours a day. Your Internet social networking material is working for you when you are working, when you are pounding the pavement looking for a new managerial/executive position, when you are sleeping, eating or enjoying your family and friends. Essentially, it is working for you no matter what you are doing…24 hours a day. However, the more YOU work it too, the better your chances of landing the position you want. Go for the best. Be proactive. Apply for jobs on the Internet, network and knock on doors. There is a door open just waiting for you to knock and walk in.
Recent job market news is good. The job market is picking up. Use your leadership skills and lead yourself into your new position. Yes, sometimes this is “easier said than done,” but you would not have reached your position in business, or academia, or in your professional life if you did not possess all the inner skills and motivation it takes to lead yourself into a new position.
Learning something new is challenging, and taking on the challenge builds your leadership strength. You know this; however, it is more challenging when you are out of work or unhappy in your current position. I understand how you feel. I also know you have what it takes to move forward, because you would not have reached a management or executive position in the past if you did not have what it takes.
Take charge of what potential employers see and read about you. It is a well-known fact that many employers use the Internet to fill new executive and managerial positions as well as researching applicants (just like you). Make sure your Internet presence is in tiptop shape. Make sure it represents you well. Be in charge of what they read about you. Shine.
That goes for your paper resume, cover letter and other job search documents too. You must stand out from the crowd and shine!
In addition to other Internet Job Board resources, do your own legwork, network with friends, family, make cold calls, attend meetings etc. Consider creating a LinkedIn and Monster.com account and make yourself more visible. Work with LinkedIn and Monster.com and make connections. Work it, work it, and work it. An employer is looking for you. Be found. Remember it has never been more important than now, to have a polished and well-written resume, cover letter and other job search documents.
In addition to working online, you still must have a sharp resume, cover letter and other job search documents to compete in this market.
