Feeling confident/competent can be so innate, that when you lose that feeling you are not sure why or how to get it back. If you look at the following statements made by someone full of self-confidence, they may help you reorient your feelings of confusion, loss, or anxiety that can be so common with job loss or job dissatisfaction.

Challenge any false feelings of self-doubt. They are not a reliable guide.

Check out these self-confident statements. I hope they jumpstart your natural and innate feelings of self-confidence/competence.

  • I am able to feel many different kinds of feelings. I allow, accept and listen to all of my thoughts and feelings.
  • When I am feeling overwhelmed, I sit quietly and listen.
  • I build inner strength by allowing all my thoughts and feelings to be and to speak to me.
  • I accept that what I am feeling and thinking makes sense in this situation.
  • I know when to seek help. I talk with my spouse, trusted friend, trusted colleague, therapist or pastor.
  • I am aware of what is real and true for me.
  • I listen to others opinions; however, I ultimately decide what is best for me.
  • I am capable of doing what I need to do
  • I face mistakes as opportunities to learn.
  • I freely admit my mistakes and seek restitution if I need to.
  • I am a lifelong learner.
  • I am open to new ideas.
  • I sort through what is true for me and what is not true for me.
  • I am capable of designing a life that fits my personality.
  • I am capable of finding people and a work situation that share my values, where I contribute using my talents and abilities.
  • I am capable of teamwork and collaboration.
  • I am capable of leading and guiding others and myself.
  • I am self-motivated.
  • I accept differences in others and work toward collaboration when I can.
  • I am honest with myself and appropriately honest in my communication with others.
  • I consider and listen to others thoughts, feelings, needs and ideas in my decision making process.
  • I strive for win/win outcomes. I also know when to call it quits.
  • I feel passionate about my work and my life.
  • I know who I am and where I fit.
  • As I learn and grow - I embrace and welcome change.
  • I seek to build and participate in healthy relationships.
  • I seek to build and create an environment that nourishes individual potential, including my own.
  • I trust my inner voice and the sometimes quiet and gentle guidance from within.
  • I know and celebrate my accomplishments and I give credit where credit is due.
  • I plan and execute my plans.
  • I adapt when necessary.
  • I know and accept my strengths and my weaknesses. I work from my strengths.

These are some comments from people who express healthy self-confidence. I hope this jump-starts your self-confidence. Add to the list any of your personal self-confident thoughts and feelings.
