Have You Considered a Step-by-Step Approach to Your Job Search?
Always walk through life as if you have something new to learn and you will. ~Vernon Howard
Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. ~Henry Ford
I’m dedicating this blog post to our nephew Jordan. After graduating from college last year, Jordan took a job in a coffee shop, while continuing his job search. He just landed another job, a step closer to his dream job. He plans to continue his job search. He continues to keep his ideal job and ideal company dream alive. He is moving toward his future, making the best of the present and learning every step of the way. He has a plan. He is moving forward step by step. We can learn from Jordan.
He is doing everything right. By that, I mean he does what it takes to move forward. Sometimes that includes accepting a job that may not be your exact ideal; however it is a step in the right direction. This is wisdom in action.
Jordan tapped into his network of friends and associates. He did his research. He asked for help. He was open to learn everything he could about the job search process. He kept at it, during the ups and downs. Way to go Jordan!
This process works for anyone, no matter what your position or age. Consider your job search a process. The process is one-step at a time. It is so easy to forget this when we hang our hat on our ideal job or position. Never give up your dreams, and allow your dreams to evolve. Consider working your way toward your dream job. Learn along the way, including learning about effective job search strategy.
Consider looking at your life as an adventure, an adventure of learning and growing and you will learn and grow - the fountain of youth, just as Henry Ford said.
Congratulations Jordan and to everyone who recently landed a job, whether it is your ideal job or a job on your way to your ideal job! Good job - Good work! You are on your way.
If you are on your way to landing your ideal job, make sure your resume, cover letter and other job search documents stand out from the crowd. Give yourself your best advantage and achieve your goals!
Bob and I wish you the best in your job search.
