First, this can feel very discouraging. That is normal. After all, you have built a body of work experience and it can all feel like a loss.
The good news is that it is not all a loss. You can do something. Look at all your job duties and find your “transferable skills.”
Study your past job duties and determine skills that you can reapply in other types of jobs.

I hope this list jump-starts your thinking about what skills you have that you can easily transfer and use in others kinds of jobs. You must begin to look differently at your background and re-imagine what is possible for you. This is just a beginning list. Tap into your background and find new possibilities.
It is vital your resume showcase your transferable skills. Present and be your best. Make sure your resume, cover letter and all your job search documents shine. Don’t rely on run-of-the-mill resume templates, or have a family member, neighbor or well-meaning friend write your resume. Invest in yourself and work it. Prepare for your interviews with research, know yourself, and work your job search. Work it; work it, work it and it will work for you.
Bob and I wish you the best in your job search.
