Questions to Ask Yourself about a Job Offer - Is it a Good Match for You?

Consider asking yourself the following questions to make sure your new job offer is in your best interest.

  • Does this job utilize at least 60 percent of my strengths?
  • Do you feel a sense of joy when you think of your new job duties?
  • Do you feel appropriately challenged?
  • What is your potential for growth in this company and in this job?
  • What kind of connection did you have with your potential boss?
  • Did you actually have an opportunity to talk with your direct supervisor or boss? What was your rapport with this person? What was your comfort level? What can you learn from them?
  • How much freedom do you have to make decisions about your work?
  • Will this job “make a difference” and how much do I care about this value?
  • Is this job and company in harmony with my personal values?
  • Will you have to work overtime? How much - Does this matter to you?
  • What is your opportunity for advancement – does this matter to you?
  • How does this job match with your personality and temperament?
  • What are the travel requirements?
  • How does the company culture fit for you?
  • What are the company expectations and do they jive with you?
  • What kind of training does the company provide?
  • Is this a job where you can contribute?

These are a few questions to ask yourself as you are considering your new job offer.
