Harvard researchers discovered something unexpected. Focus creates happiness.
When you “focus” on anything, you are doing in your life you create greater happiness and well-being for yourself. The good news for you is that if you focus on your job search you will be happier. When you "focus" on creating a top-notch resume and cover letter, researching the internet for job opportunities, e-mailing your friends and letting them know you are looking for your next great position, whatever you are doing, even washing your car or washing the dishes, you are making yourself happier - if you attend to the job at hand.
This is good news for you because it is so easy to slip into feeling depressed if you are out of work or unhappy in your current position. Focus can change that for you.
The news is simple, yet profound. Focus on whatever you are doing in the moment and you will create a greater sense of happiness and well-being.
Bob and I wish you the best in your job search. Make sure your job search documents are the best they can be. This is not the time to use templates or let your best friend, neighbor, cousin or family member write your resume. Make sure your resume, cover letter and other job search documents make you stand out from the crowd. It has never been more important than now.
